“Allow me to deliver a new perspective on music and your instrument. My teaching is focused on the concept of ‘Fundamentals First’ and I believe that the key to anybody making improvements in their technique lies in their ability to hear and analyze their own sound and body.”
– First and foremost, his work based on this rule: The easier it feels, the better it sounds. This rule applies to all brass instruments and it is based on the fundamental principal that the best possible sound comes from players getting in the way of it as little as possible.
– Secondly, using a pyramid system of fundamentals, students are brought back to basics, for as long as they need to be there, and encouraged to listen, analyze and review their playing. This often involves the use of videos and audio recordings, mirrors and most of all, the ears.
